  • I plan to use the opinions that will be stated in the interviews that I will conduct in order to gain as accurate an idea of the public's views on literature and cinema as possible.
  • This will be conducted by looking specifically at both the movie and novelized versions of the story Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
    • I chose this particular story because it was the safest bet for gathering large amounts of information.  This is because of how drastically large of an impact that the Harry Potter name has made on popular culture on a wide spread scale.
  • Will specifically interview known extreme fans of the Harry Potter series because they are the most likely to be well knowledgeable of the story in both of its formats as opposed to just one over the other
  • I will observe the feedback that I receive from my participants and apply this to the information in my other sources.
  • Do the fans have a more enjoyable experience reading the novel or viewing the movie?  Why?  Is there a happy median?  Does the personal ways that they take in information play a role in any way?
  • Focus: Is the general discourse true that the literary format of storytelling is superior over the cinematic format?  Whether or not this discourse is true, does the way that people read and process the information presented to them in literature versus the way that people view and process information presented in cinema have any contributing factors to how individuals enjoy one format over the other.
  • Things to pay attention to during the interviews:  excessive pausing, humorous laughs vs. nervous laughs, any unintentional background information about the interviewee given during the questioning process, any dual meanings behind what the interviewees say or do, how much or how little the individual speaks, etc.
